THE DOCUMENT

The clauses below explain our commitments and the responsibilities and choices relevant to this website. Select a clause in the contents list to jump directly to it.

01

Introduction and acceptance

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to access to and use of the Olum4Africa website, its webpages and the information made available through it (“Website”). Olum4Africa is an officially registered organisation. In these Terms, “Olum4Africa”, “we”, “our” and “us” refer to the organisation responsible for the Website; “you” means a visitor or person interacting with the Website.

By continuing to access or use the Website, you agree to comply with these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, please discontinue use. A person submitting an enquiry should also read our Privacy Policy before providing personal information.

The Website is informational and community-oriented. It does not operate an online shop, user account platform or payment service. These Terms do not create a membership relationship or a contract to supply an individual programme merely because you visit a page.

02

Purpose and nature of information

The Website provides information about our mission, our community history, educational and awareness material, programme priorities, ways to participate and opportunities for partnership. It is intended to promote understanding and responsible engagement.

Descriptions of planned programmes, outreach targets and future initiatives express intentions or goals and should not be read as a guarantee of availability, funding or a particular outcome. The presence of programme information does not establish individual eligibility or a commitment to provide a service.

03

Who may use the Website

The Website may be read by the general public. Where a visitor sends a message, they must be legally capable of providing the requested information or be appropriately authorised to act on another person’s behalf.

Children should not submit their personal details or other sensitive information through the general Contact form. Parents, guardians and authorised adult representatives should use appropriate channels and avoid sending sensitive details in an initial enquiry.

04

Permitted use and visitor responsibilities

You may browse the Website, refer to its publicly available educational material for lawful non-commercial purposes and share links to its pages. In doing so, please maintain the context and integrity of the material and respect the people and communities discussed.

You agree not to use the Website in a manner that violates applicable law or interferes with another person’s use of the service.

  • Provide reasonably accurate information when sending a voluntary enquiry.
  • Respect the privacy, dignity and rights of women, children, families and community members mentioned on the Website.
  • Avoid disclosing sensitive personal information through ordinary contact messages.
  • Comply with applicable intellectual-property, privacy and online-safety requirements.
05

Prohibited conduct

The following conduct is not permitted except where expressly authorised by us or allowed by applicable law.

  • Attempting to gain unauthorised access to administrative systems, accounts, networks or information.
  • Introducing malicious code, interfering with availability or performing abusive automated requests.
  • Impersonating Olum4Africa, its representatives, partners or other website visitors.
  • Scraping or republishing photographs, identifiable personal stories or substantial protected content without appropriate rights.
  • Using the Website to harass, exploit, discriminate against or endanger individuals, particularly children.
  • Misrepresenting that Olum4Africa endorses a product, fundraising appeal, campaign or organisation.
  • Submitting unlawful, misleading, abusive or unrelated commercial messages through the Contact form.
06

Intellectual property and ownership

Unless otherwise stated, the Website’s original text, design, brand presentation, illustrations, software and other original material are controlled by Olum4Africa or used with permission from their respective rights holders. Applicable copyright, trademark and related laws may protect those materials.

You receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive permission to view pages and make reasonable personal copies for lawful information and educational purposes. No ownership rights are transferred by visiting, downloading or linking to the Website.

Do not reproduce the O4A logo, publish substantial parts of our materials as your own, remove attribution or suggest an official affiliation without consent. Third-party assets remain subject to their own terms and licences.

07

Photographs, illustrations and personal stories

Pictures, graphics and stories are included to communicate themes of community, education and care. Illustrative imagery should not be treated as a representation that a particular person participated in a documented programme.

Identifiable photographs of community members or children must not be copied, republished or used to target individuals without proper authorisation and regard for safeguarding obligations. Please notify us if you believe that content affects your privacy or infringes a right.

08

Educational and health-related information

Autism awareness, child development, health and wellbeing content is provided for general education and awareness. It does not provide a diagnosis, personalised health advice, clinical assessment, treatment or an emergency response service.

Always consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional for questions about individual symptoms, assessment or care. If there is an urgent medical or safety concern, seek the appropriate local emergency or professional support service rather than relying on this Website.

We aim to communicate accurately and responsibly but cannot guarantee that every general resource will apply to an individual situation.

09

Programmes, outreach and impact statements

Information about activities or proposed programmes may change as resources, partnerships, approvals or community needs evolve. A description of a planned initiative is not an assurance of a place, a benefit, funding or a particular result.

Where numerical goals or estimates appear, they are objectives unless expressly identified as achieved and supported by an appropriate reporting basis. Readers should not interpret aspirational figures as confirmed historical outcomes.

Participation in an offline programme or event may be governed by additional eligibility, safeguarding, consent, health or operational requirements communicated separately.

10

Enquiries and communications

The Contact page allows you to send a voluntary enquiry about our work. Submitting a message does not oblige Olum4Africa to accept a partnership proposal, offer a placement, provide individual assistance or respond within a guaranteed period.

You are responsible for ensuring that information you submit is lawful and that you have authority to share it. Please do not submit confidential third-party information, sensitive health details or identifying records about children.

You retain ownership of the original material you submit. By sending an enquiry, you permit us to receive, store and use its contents for the limited purposes of reviewing and responding to that enquiry and undertaking related administration in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not obtain a general right to publish your message.

11

Donations, payments and fundraising

The Website currently provides information about participation and support but does not accept online donations, process payment cards or issue donation receipts. References to giving or support are informational and must not be interpreted as an active payment request.

Do not transfer money to an account or individual claiming to represent Olum4Africa solely because of an unsolicited message, third-party advertisement or copied website content. Independently confirm the legitimacy of any future fundraising arrangement through an authorised channel.

If online giving is introduced, the applicable payment provider, receipt process, cancellation and refund rules and additional privacy information will be provided before payment is accepted.

12

Links and third-party resources

The Website may link to educational resources, partners and external services. Such links are supplied for convenience and do not automatically constitute an endorsement or guarantee of accuracy, availability, security or suitability.

Other websites are controlled by their respective operators and may have different terms or privacy practices. You should review those before engaging with the external service or sharing personal information.

We may update or remove external links when they become outdated, inappropriate or unavailable.

13

Website availability, maintenance and security

We seek to make the Website available and useful, but access may occasionally be interrupted by maintenance, technical faults, security measures or circumstances outside our reasonable control. We may modify features, content or availability without guaranteeing uninterrupted service.

We reserve the right, where lawful, to protect the Website and other users against misuse, including by limiting abusive requests or disabling a compromised feature.

14

Accuracy, corrections and updates

We make reasonable efforts to present information carefully. However, historical descriptions, third-party references, programme details and educational material may require correction or revision as reliable information becomes available.

Please contact us if you identify a factual error or believe that a photograph, name, quotation or other information has been included inappropriately. We will consider the concern and take action where justified.

Dates and statements on a webpage should be interpreted in their proper context. Content may be updated without preserving every earlier version publicly.

15

Disclaimers and statutory protections

The Website and its general information are provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we do not guarantee that the Website will be free from interruptions, technical errors or every potential omission in general educational material.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes a duty, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. In particular, these Terms do not remove any applicable consumer protection, privacy or other mandatory statutory protection.

Any specific representation or formal commitment made in a separate signed agreement is governed by that agreement and applicable law, rather than a general statement on this Website.

16

Responsibility and limitation of liability

You remain responsible for decisions you make based on general information on the Website. Where loss arises from a third-party service, independent external activity or use of information outside its stated purpose, responsibility is assessed under applicable law and the facts of the situation.

To the fullest extent lawfully permitted, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising solely from an inability to access a free informational page or from reliance on a third-party resource that we do not control.

This section does not exclude liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, unlawful conduct or any other liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude.

17

Privacy and personal information

Personal information provided in connection with the Website is governed by our Privacy Policy. Our Cookie Policy explains the website technologies currently used or potentially involved in delivery.

Please protect your own device and communications. If you suspect a security problem or misuse of personal information connected to the Website, send a message through the Contact page with non-sensitive details sufficient to help us investigate.

18

Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms to reflect changes to the Website, its services or applicable law. The current effective version is identified by the date and version displayed at the beginning of this document.

Changes apply prospectively to use of the Website following their publication, except where applicable law provides otherwise. We will identify material changes when reasonably appropriate.

19

Governing law and resolution of concerns

These Terms are interpreted under the applicable laws of Uganda, without displacing mandatory protections that apply to a particular visitor. If a disagreement arises, please contact us with the relevant details so the issue can be considered in good faith.

Nothing here prevents you from exercising a right to complain to a competent regulator or from pursuing a remedy available under applicable law. Any court or dispute-resolution process will be determined under the relevant legal rules.

20

Severability and non-waiver

If a part of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply so far as they can lawfully operate. A failure to act immediately in response to a breach does not by itself waive a right that remains available under applicable law.

21

Contact about these Terms

For questions, corrections, intellectual-property concerns or other matters relating to Website use, visit /contact and submit an enquiry. Please identify the relevant page and explain the concern so that it can be assessed.

These Terms should be read with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, including their descriptions of personal-data processing and third-party services.
